My adoptive ancestors were immigrants from Sicily, Italy. I was fortunate to find a passenger ship manifest from Italy to Boston with my ancestors listed on it. I was surprised because before doing genealogy research, I thought that all immigrants had to pass through Ellis Island before moving on to their final destinations. In my case, some of my ancestors traveled right to the port of their final destinations. Concetta (Cucinotta) Fiorello and her children were traveling to Boston to reunite with her husband and their father, Pasquale Fiorello. He did in fact pass through Ellis Island before settling in Boston, Massachusetts.
